"In a way, it's a sort of fate of Palestinians not to end up where they started, but somewhere unexpected and far away." - Edward Said -- Edward Said was a Palestinian-American intellectual. Born in Mandatory Palestine, but attending British-style schools, Said developed a unique perspective on culture and politics that he brought to his writings. Fifty years after moving to the United States, and five years before his death, Said brought his son back to Jerusalem to show him where he was born.
“In Search of Palestine - Edward Said’s Return Home” is a film presented by Edward Said, and produced by the BBC in 1998. It captures the interconnection between Said’s personal recollection and the shared memory of the Palestinian people. The film discusses the Oslo accords, ongoing ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, settlements expansion, growing apartheid system, segregation within the Israeli state, and other aspects of occupation.
According to Said, the film was shown once on BBC world. However, BBC's distribution efforts in the U.S. failed miserably under the influence of the Zionist lobby that has no interest in presenting Palestinians as humans who have a history and a story to tell.
